Leverage stylescapes to bring your brand to life

As a design director, one of my key challenges is helping client leaders to communicate their branding vision and initiatives to their teams and leaders.

 

I have found a stylescape to be an invaluable asset in translating these efforts in a clear, visual manner – and in a way that both our teams and our client teams quickly gain alignment with.

By definition, a stylescape is a design tool that expresses and steers the visual language for a project.

Stylescapes include fonts, colors and images that are artfully and intentionally arranged and the direction for a stylescape comes from initial meetings with clients. The deliverable is a sort of a mood board “plus” and can truly avoid spin and literally get us all on the same page quickly and set us on the road to success at the appropriate mile markers.

What I really like about the format is that it allows for a horizontal, left-to-right story, that we can walk our clients through, mounted on a conference room wall or slowly revealed in a virtual setting. We’re able to underscore rationale and literally bring the story to life and our clients are invested in that story, so much so, key players often tell the story with us… as one united team.
